  Best Sushi East of Japan. After eating Sushi in Japan all other "Sushi Bar/Restaurants" in Maui Fail. They have American sushi. If you want the real thing without the travel to Japan, this is it. It is a small restaurant with only 11 seats at the bar and a table for 4. It will be hard to get a reservation as they are always full with good reason. Just keep trying. The owner takes great pride in presenting TOP quality Sushi. I can't wait for my next dinner there.

  So we had some pretty high expectations for this place because of all the reviews and pictures. First things first, if you've never been there, there are no signs at the actual front of the restaurant other then at the bottom of the window, but cars are blocking any type of view. So we drove around a good 30 mins trying to actually find it. Then our reservation was for 730 (called a few weeks in advance) we didn't get in till almost 9 because of people puttering around in there taking their sweet time eating. We ordered about 4 different types of rolls. The 69 roll was pretty good, but not the best I've had. All the other rolls were so bland, no flavor, and super mushy rice. The rolls actually tasted like rice, nothing else. We had a couple first timers with us who had never had sushi, they were pretty disgusted. Can't say I liked it either after about 15 mins of leaving I had to pull the car over to puke. We've had pretty damn good sushi before, and this compared to that, TERRIBLE. Almost same level as gas station sushi.

  This is my favorite sushi place of all time and I am picky. You won't find me at a sushi train place but I also don't need frills. This sushi place is no frills and just focuses on fresh, quality ingredients. I've been here 3 times now and have never been disappointed. I recommend going with the omakase. The chef always knows best!
  
  Plan ahead - you have to have a reservation - keep calling if you can't get through the first time. This place probably has less than 16 seats total. It's a little tricky to find as it's tucked away inside of a strip mall.
